In Marathi: Pune Mahanagarpalika. Abbreviation : Manapa

The Municipal Corporation of City of Pune was incorporated under Maharashtra Municipal Corporation Act.

Structure of Pune Municipal Corporation

Pune Municipal Corporation has two main wings,

1. Public Representatives Wing or Political Wing
2. Executive Wing or Administrative Wing

Public Representatives Wing or Political Wing

General body of the corporation is made of public representatives referred to as Councilors (or corporators) directly elected from the public through ward-level elections

Public Representatives department decides policies, approves them and recognizes the economic work.

Corporation

Corporation acts as Municipal Authority for making policies.
The PMC Mayor conducts and controls the operations of the General Body Meeting.

Standing Committee

Standing Committee acts as Municipal Authority for sanctioning budget and taking decisions on financial matters.
There are also City Development Committee, Women & Children Welfare Committee, Law Committee, Sports Committee etc.

Executive Wing or Administrative Wing

Administrative department implements the policies of the corporation and various provisions in the act.

Municipal Commissioner works as an Administrative Head and is assisted by 3 Additional Municipal Commissioners appointed by Maharashtra State Government.

Commissioners are assisted by Deputy Commissioners and various departments. The head of the department enforces and controls the operations and administrations of the department under its jurisdiction.
